Our History
Kiroko Foundation was established in 2021 by Bishop Kamau Kiroko after a poignant visit to his home
village of Mariaini in Murang'a County. During this visit, Bishop Kamau was deeply moved by the
hardships faced by the local community, including poverty, ignorance, and a lack of basic needs. These
challenges reminded him of his own struggles during his educational journey in the 1970s, sparking a
desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Witnessing the distress in Mariaini, Bishop Kamau felt a calling to take action. Driven by a vision to restore hope and transform the lives of families in his village, he laid the groundwork for the Kiroko Foundation. Initially focused on providing scholarships to improve access to education, the foundation’s scope gradually expanded to address a broader range of issues..
By incorporating initiatives such as entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and community empowerment programs, the Kiroko Foundation set out to create lasting change. Its mission centers on empowering the youth and building self-reliant communities equipped to overcome challenges and unlock their potential..
In 2024, the foundation was officially registered, marking a significant milestone in its journey of service. This formal recognition solidified its commitment to addressing the urgent needs of the community and fostering sustainable growth and development. Today, the Kiroko Foundation continues to be a beacon of hope, transforming lives and inspiring a brighter future for the people of Mariaini and beyond

Kiroko foundation gave me a chance to school!
After I completed my class eight exams at Mariaini primary, I passed very well. I was position 1 with 377 marks out of 500. Despite my good performance, my future looked bleak. I did not know if I would get a chance to further my studies because of the poor situation at home. I was informed about Kiroko Foundation, and I decided to try my luck and by Gods grace I was enrolled in the sponsorship program. Kiroko Foundation paid my high school fees and today, I have completed my high school education at Chania Boys. I’m patiently waiting for my results and very certain that my future and that of my family will be much better. Thank you, Kiroko Foundation.
ALEX MWIHIA
FORMER STUDENT AT CHANIA HIGH SCHOOL
My name is Mwangi Victor. I am at Kiaguthu Boys Secondary School and headed to form three. I come from a very needy background because my parents are small-scale farmers who cannot afford my school fees. I did very well in my primary exams, but my parents could not afford school fees for my high school. Kiroko Foundation stepped in to pay for my school fees and I am headed to form three in one of the best schools in Murang’a country. I thank Kiroko Foundation for their support this far and promise to work had and uplift my family and the community.
MWANGI VICTOR
FORM TWO STUDENT AT KIAGUTHU BOYS
When my K.C.P.E results came out, I was the top of my school, and I was among the best in the County. I was given an admission letter to one of the best schools in the country- Chania High School but unfortunately my parents could not afford it. It was painful to see my mother shed tears because she could not afford to take me to high school. My mother approached Kiroko Foundation and my request for scholarship support was accepted. Today, I am headed to form two and I can’t thank God enough for this intervention. Thank you, Kiroko Foundation, for stepping in. My future looks bright.

The resource center that was established by Kiroko Foundation at Mariani primary has impacted our community very positively. It is a great joy to see high school students and members of the community streaming into the resource center to study and get informed. That means in the next few years the community will be more knowledgeable and informed.
